New Postcard 1040 Draft Released

The IRS and Treasury Department released a draft version of the new postcard 1040 which combines the 3 former Form 1040s (1040, 1040A and 1040EZ) into one small form. I am not quite sure how useful this will be to the majority of taxpayers, as according to the IRS 91% or 82 million returns were e-filed during the 2014 tax season and I can only assume that number has increased since then.

Since the form includes your social security number you will still need to mail it inside an envelope and attach any additional schedules as needed.

You can view the form draft form on the IRS website here and see additional information here.
